The Three Final Wishes of Alexander the Great Alexander was a great Greek king. As a military commander, he was undefeated and the most successful throughout history. On his way home from conquering many countries, he came down with an illness. At that moment, his captured territories, powerful army, sharp swords, and wealth all had no meaning to him. He realized that death would soon arrive and he would be unable to return to his homeland. He told his officers: “I will soon leave this world. I have three final wishes. You need to carry out what I tell you.” His generals, in tears, agreed.
“My first wish is to have my physician bring my coffin home alone. After a gasping for air, Alexander continued: “My second wish is scatter the gold, silver, and gems from my treasure-house along the path to the tomb when you ship my coffin to the grave.” After wrapping in a woolen blanket and resting for a while, he said: “My final wish it to put my hands outside the coffin.” People surrounding him all were very curious, but no one dare to ask the reason. Alexander’s most favored general kissed his hand and asked: “My Majesty, We will follow your instruction. But can you tell us why you want us to do it this way?” After taking a deep breath, Alexander said: “I want everyone to understand the three lessons I have learned. To let my physician carry my coffin alone is to let people realize that a physician cannot really cure people’s illness. Especially when they face death, the physicians are powerless. I hope people will learn to treasure their lives. My second wish is to tell people not to be like me in pursuing wealth. I spent my whole life pursuing wealth, but I was wasting my time most of the time. My third wish to let people understand that I came to this world in empty hands and I will leave this world also in empty hands.” he closed his eyes after finished talking and stopped breathing.

I like it very much!!!!!!!!!!!
“On his death bed, his marshals asked him to whom he bequeathed his kingdom. Since Alexander had no obvious and legitimate heir (his son Alexander IV would be born after his death, and his other son was by a concubine, not a wife), it was a question of vital importance. There is some debate to what Alexander replied. Some believe that Alexander said, “Kratisto” (that is, “To the strongest!”) or “Krat’eroi” (to the stronger).” ( wikipedia)

Pricks , he was not Greek …
Alexander the Great was Macedonian. He may have wanted to be greek, but he was Macedonian. You Greeks need to face the facts. Just deal with it. It’s not a big deal, really. You have a much bigger history to protect and maintain other than Alexander the Great. Just give us Macedonians the one thing us Macedonians can be recognized by.
this is really a good one..
nice example to eradicate terrorism from the world..
pass it on to the wealthier people so that they can change
I’m an Aussie with no loyalty to Greeks or Macos but it is an undisputed fact Alex the Great was Macedonian not Greek, end of story. Why do Greeks get so cut and try and make out he was part Greek, is this because Alex Whipped their arses ? I don’t get it is this the reason ?
All of you have forgotten or either don’t realise but Alexandros’ mother was Greek! An Epirotisa to be exact from Epirus….meaning Greek….yamoti sas oli!!!
NOTE: Olympias (c.376- 316 B.C.) was the daughter of Neoptolemus, king of Epirus, the 4th wife of Philip II of Macedon, and the mother of Alexander the Great.
Makedonia is Greece forever!!!!!
After all that Alexander the Great achieved in his short life, the entire globe is still the same way inspired till date as from his last day. Its useless to argue on the fact basing on his origins.. Glance from Europe, Asia or even the remotest corner of the globe – Children, Adults remain equally thrilled at his accomplishments even today.. Bring up some unknown facts about his life folks!!! do some research and show up…try making a lineage nature from Philip the great and things like that,.,.,
Alexandre of Macedonia was a Macedonion King,
at the time of Alexander, Macedon IS NOT a Great State,
But A Country of its own, and A true Monotomy in its own rights,
Alexanders Father Philip, was a decendent of Heracles himself, His mother olympia was a decendent of BOTH Hektor and King Priam, as Well as Pyrus (neoptlomes) and Achilles Himself,
Alexandre had no 3 last wishes, this is BULLSHIT,
Quote from somebody:
“On his death bed, his marshals asked him to whom he bequeathed his kingdom. This is correct, Although, there are some theorys that say Alexander the Great of Macedon and his Uncle Alexander of Epirus both made each other their heirs, as they both set of without an heir on conquests on opposite sides of the world,
Alexander the Great heads east to Persia, while his uncle heads west to what is Now Italy,
Not long before the Persian expedition Alexanders sister Cleopatra had been married to her Uncle Alexander of Epirus, It was at the Wedding, that Philip of Macedon is Assasinated,
SO please guys, Pick up a few books before you go Spouting shit on the internet, There are MANY sorces of Information on Alaxandre of Macedon,
The Greatest Alexander of them all.
And while your at it, Maybe read abit more about the underlying reasons and the history between the Greeks and the Persians, As alexander himself said, Those who do not know the Past Cannot Possibly understand the now.
^_^
the great American president George Washington was English born and an English general. He is enshrined in history as one of the great American figures . Factually and by choice. Even if there was a slavic race over two thousand years ago, and Alexander the Great, hypotheticly, came from that race of people, factually and by choice he always declared himself as ‘Ellinas’
I love the story of Alexander the Great. I have to do a presentation about this AMAZING man.
i am almost as great as Alexander the Great
LOL pathetic “greeks” stop stealing Macedonian history go check your ethiopian genes and leave ancient history alone
cause Alex wasnt a “gayreek” he was a 100% Macedonian.
and this thing about his last three wishes is bullcrap.
He was just a avanturistic spoil child that played with the power of his father – Philip The Macedonian was the first political manipulator and a Real King.
From where i am there is an old saying that he is killed by his greedy generals ( Macedonian syndrome ) and he is buried at unknown place with out any honors – that is the first theory, and the second is that after his death (probably from a malaria) his body was returned to macedonia request of his living mother and he was buried without any big ceremonies in macedonia at uknown place again because of the gready generals who wanted to grab the fortune from the empire and they left nothing for his sons.
“Macedonia was the first large territorial state with an effective centralized political, military and administrative structure to come into being on the continent of Europe”. Green
The ancient Macedonians were a distinct nation, separate from their neighbors, the ancient Greeks, Illyrians, and Thracians. The ancient Greek and Roman historians tell us that the Macedonians spoke a separate Macedonian language and had their own customs, culture, and traditions. Archeological discoveries confirm that the material culture of the Macedonians also defer greatly from all their neighbors, and it is by far more superior in artistry (gold, paintings, weapons, mosaics) then anything found in contemporary Greece, Illyria, and Thrace. The texts of the ancient writers distinguish the Macedonians from the ancient Greeks, just like they distinguish the Romans and the Carthaginians. Yet, like the other non-Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Illyrians, and Thracians, the Macedonian high society also used the Greek language along with Macedonian. Greek was spoken by the nobility of many different ancient nations, just like French was spoken in the 19th century (at the German and Russian courts for example).
There is no doubt nevertheless that the Illyrains, Thracians, and Macedonians were non-Greeks, or in the words of the ancient Greeks “barbarians” which literally means people who spoke other non-Greek languages.
Here are a few abstracts of ancient greek and roman writers and modern english and american writers:
The Greeks never stopped fighting the Macedonians. While Alexander was conquering Persia with his 25-30,000 Macedonians, more then 50,000 Greeks actually fought on the side of the Persians against the Macedonians (Curtius). The Macedonians slaughtered 18,000 of them in the first battle and sent 2,000 to forced labor in Macedonia (Arrian). After Alexander died the Macedonian general Pithon massacred 23,000 more in a single battle when the Greeks revolted in Bactria (Diodorus). In Greece, when the news of Alexander the Great’s death became known, the Greeks united once again and threw out the Macedonians out of their country in the Lamian War (Diodorus). But the Macedonian army returned with massive reinforcements, defeated the Greeks both on land and sea, and re-occupied Greece, putting a bloody end of the Lamian War (Diodorus).
The Greeks nevertheless continued raising rebellion after rebellion against the Macedonians to free Greece from the foreign occupation. All successors of Alexander the Great fought them, and the Macedonian king Antigonus II Gonatas fought three Greek uprising who unified against the “barbarous Macedonians” (Diodorus, Plutarch, Justin). Finally in 197 BC, the Macedonian king Philip V was defeated by the joint force of Romans and Greeks, and Macedonia lost Greece after almost 150 years of occupation. When the Romans proclaimed that Greece is free, such an enormous burst of enthusiasm exploded among the Greeks that the Roman general who made the announcement was almost killed by the mass of people that flocked to shake his hand and congratulate him for diving the Macedonians out (Livy, Polybius).
Alexander a Greek?? WTF?? How can somebody be a Greek and kill the Greeks? Phillip was known as Phillhelene which means “friend of Helenes[Greeks]” and logically a NON Greek…otherwise he would have been friend of himself?? BULLSHIT!
Macedonians were known as barbarians. Barbarian comes from the Greek word “βάρβαρος” = non Greek, someone who does NOT speak the Greek language. And here are Demosthenes’ words to Phillip:
Demosthenes
Greek Orator Speaking against King Phillip II of ancient Macedonia.
“… not only no Greek, nor related to the Greeks, but not even a barbarian from any place that can be named with honors, but a pestilent knave from Macedonia, whence it was never yet possible to buy a decent slave” – Demosthenes, Third Philippic, 31. The famous words that this Greek orator from Athens used to describe the Macedonian king Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great, prior to Philip’s conquest of Greece.
Alexander was nothing else but Macedonian!
Greece stole Aegean Macedonia in 1913 with the Bucharest treatment, as the treatment should be reopen in 2013…the Greek government started a propaganda claiming Macedonia was a Greek region since forever, just in order to keep the occupied land.
PEOPLE…DO NOT LET THE GREEKS FOOL YOU!
GREEK PROPAGANDA MUST STOP!!!!!

Notice one thing how the greek who posted this titles it ”
The Final Three Wishes of Greek King of Macedon” Greek king of Macedon wtf? you mean Illyrian King of Macedon in other words Albanian King of Thracia you homos are all the way near africa! Mother born in Epirus modern day Albania, father Phillip II who also was illyrian decent. Alexander conquered Greece. If he was greek why the hell would he conquer his own people?
And how was he Albanian in any way? Well, first of all Alexander was son of Philip II and Olympia. Olympia, was the princess of Epirus, a province in Northern Greece, considered to be modern day Albania, and an ancient territory of Albanian tribes. This relation of Alexander having Albanian blood is considered somewhat feasible and acceptable by the history books, but we want to stretch out the enigma of Alexander.
Initially there is the question of where and to what people Alexander belonged to. It is known that Alexander the Great, was really Alexander of Macedon, and the current flag of Macedonia is the ancient sun flag of Alexander’s army. This seems reasonable, but what really were the “Macedon” people. As stated in the Compton’s Interactive Encyclopedia, “the Slavs, occupied much of the area [Balkans] by the 6th century AD”, so it cannot be possible for the now largely Slavic Macedonia to be a descendant from Alexander the Great. Slavic tribes did not come into the region of Northern Greece until well after Alexander’s death, which leaves only two people left, the Albanians and the Greeks. It is important tot note that the history books have not labeled Alexander Greek, and therefore he can only be Albanian. Albanian tribes are the earliest known to occupy northern Greece, and that allows Alexander only one nationality. Alexander did not have Albanian blood, he was an Albanian. To Albanians this fact seems very clear, for we have named our currency lek, after Leka I Madh.
The Barbaric war style of the Illyrians was deeply rooted in Alexander’s spirit, which is good reason for his expertise as a general and a conqueror.
More proof of Alexander’s Albanian ancestry would have to be the close relations he had with the King of the Illyrians, practically a man of his own kin. There is an ancient legend that the Illyrian king gave Alexander a large, beastly, dog to commemorate his achievements. The beast was so ferocious, Alexander decided to make it hunt bears. The dog showed no interest in this endeavor and lay lazily without moving. This angered Alexander and he had the dog killed. When the king of the Illyrians heard of this he sent him another dog, this time with a message of “not wasting the dog’s time with small things”. This time Alexander had the dog fight a lion, which the dog quickly broke the back of, and then an Elephant, who the dog forced off a cliff. The extensive diplomacy between Alexander and the Illyrians only suggests that Alexander was an Albanian himself.
Also, there is the conquered territory of Alexander. When looking at a map of his advances, oddly enough Illirium and Northern Greece is not touched by his armies. Yet, the Illyrian and Northern Greek tribes did not have armies capable of facing the Great Alexander. But Alexander considered them as one, they were all Albanian. Alexander could not possibly conquer his own land. That is why this area remained untouched.
Accepting Alexander’s Albanian ancestry opens a vast world of possibilities. There is of course the long Ptolemy dynasty of Egypt that followed after Alexander’s death, started by one of Alexander’s generals and childhood friend. Accepting Alexander as an Albanian, would mean accepting a big part of Egypt’s history to be determined by an Albanian dynasty, that of Ptolemy.
Alexander’s genius and accomplishments opened a great chapter in the history of Albania. A chapter that has never been forgotten.
The Albanians call themselves “Shqip-tari”. This name is not Indo-European in origin and contains in it the Ural-Altaic suffix “ar” or “tar”. Much like: “Khaz-AR”, “Av-AR”, “Magy-AR”, “Bulg-AR”, “Hung-AR”, “Ta-TAR” – “Ship-TAR”. Taken together with the Shqiptar-Albanian toponyms on the territory of the former Caucasian Albania, this theory on the etymology of “Shqipatr” becomes more plausable. LOOOL
“shqipe” alexander albanian? LOOOL
wtf are you talking about? Have you heard about wars between Macedonians and ilyrians? wars between Macedonians and tracians?
He’s mother was a ilyrian, yes. BUT HIS FATHER PHILIP WAS 100% MACEDONIAN, and he killed ilyrians and greeks for FUN.
Go read history before you talk shit and nonesense about my nation.
And what albanians do you think are ilyrians? kosovars? LOL
A little % of today modern albanians got ilyrian origin.
go check DNA results about balcan nation, and you will see that albania is more slavic than serbia LOL and Macedonia got little % slavic genes.
Before you insult my MACEDONIAN NATION and call us “slavs” you should see DNA reports from a qualified institutes that proofs that we today Modern Macedonians are the real descedants of the ancient.
and ofcourse read some history
The latest book “THE DESCENDANTS OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT OF MACEDON – The arguments and evidence that today’s Macedonians are descendants of the ancient Macedonians”, puts an end to the “Slav” claim.
if you are educaded enough go read the book, and than come with
The real descedants of ilyrians are Bosnians and Croatians.
you modern albanians are just lost thiefs of ancient history.
Here is the proof.
In his book, “The Illyrians”, John Wilkes states on pg: 219
The original URAL-ALTAIC speaking Caucasian Shqiptar-Albanians were part of the AVAR KHANATE which had one of its early capitals in Caucasian Albania (hence Albanian topnyms there, the possible Ural-Altaic etymology of the suffix in the word “Shqip-tar” and the similarities in national costume with Caucasian peoples – the non-Indo-European Georgians, in particular).
The original Shqiptar-Albanian group of AVARS settled in Northern Romania and subjugated the Latin speaking peoples of that area when the Avars entered Europe and conquered most of its Eastern part. Over time they assimilated most of the Latin language of the people they conquered, but imposed their name on their new subjects – just like the Bulg-AR tribe did in Thrace. This explains why modern Albanian has simmilarities to the Romance languages of Romania. This Ship-tar Av-ar tribe, I believe, moved south as far as Epirus from where the Avars are recorded as staging their failed attack on Constantinople.
So, by the time the Avar Khanate was defeated by the armies of Serbs and Croats and Charles the Great in the 7th century, the Avars had reached south as far as EPIRUS from where they based this failed attack on Constantinople!!! In Epirus, this Shqiptar-Avar tribe assimilated the Illyrians and Hellens of Epirus, as they had done to the Latin speakers of Northern Romania more than a century earlier.
While the Avars were driven out of Europe by Charles the Great and killed off by Serbs and Croats in the Balkans in the 7th century, the Serbs NEVER REACHED the south of the Shkumbi until the LATE DARK AGES. The Shqiptar-Avars in Epirus and south of the Shkumbi were left unharmed.
Shqiptars began to spread north of the Shkumbi River quickly through migrations and assimilation into the lands that Serbs had conquered north of the Shkumbi soon after their arrival in the Balkans and their own assimilation of Illyrians. In the early Dark Age this process of assimilation was sped up as the Shqiptars took advantage of the early Serb kingdom’s difficult war against the Bulgars. At this time, they took advantage of the distracted Serb state to move northward past the Shkumbi by assimilating the Serbianized Illyrians.
This process was continued until Stefan Dusan the Mighty, in whose time Latin priests at Bar begin to see, for the first time – expulsions of the Catholic Albanians, likely in retribution for their assimilation of Serbs north of the Shkumbi. Assimilation of Serbs and Albanian migrations further north of the Shkumbi continued after the death of Dusan and sped up drastically and by the time of the defeat of prince Lazar Hrebeljanovic on Kosovo Field in 1389, the Albanians had expanded by assimilating the Serb populace in most of what is now Northern Albania. Throughout the Ottoman Era Albanians expanded well into Kosovo, assimilating and driving out Serbs, mostly in the 17th century – when Arsenius Carnojevic led 36 000 ethnically cleansed Serbian families out of Kosovo. This process was a continuation of the ethnic cleansing Albanians had commited against Serbs since the EARLY DARK AGE expansions north of the Shkumbi.
